“Don’t” and “doesn’t”

Don’t and doesn’t are contractions.

 

Don’t is a contraction of do not,  and doesn’t is a contraction of does not.

 

Both Don’t and doesn’t are auxiliary verbs.

 

When speaking don’t is used in the first and second person plural and singular and the third person plural:

Example

I don’t
you don’t
we don’t
they don’t

 

Contractions  don’t can be used to make a negative statement.

Example

I don’t like football.
You don’t have time to do homework.
We don’t finish that project jet.
They don’t need to fix that.

 

It can also be used when asking a question:

Example

They want to have new car, don’t they ?
You need to call your boss, don’t you ?

 

 

When speaking in the third person singular then we use doesn’t:

Example

He doesn’t
She doesn’t
It doesn’t

 

Doesn’t is also used to make negative statements:

Example

He doesn’t want me to come.
She doesn’t have money.
It doesn’t look like great.

 

Don’t and Doesn’t – Commands

 

One of the main difference between this two words is that don’t can be used to give commands but doesn’t can’t.
