The simple present tense is used for a continual activity.
For an activity which is repeated at some regular intervals.

I go to school before 9 a.m.
Our classes begin at 9.30 a.m.
The kids play in park almost every day.
They have dinner at 7 o’clock.
The simple present tense is used for an activity characteristic of the subject.
It is also used for general truths.
Examples
She speaks German very well.
A day has 24 hours.
Winter begin in December, but in Australia in June.
Some verbs have no progressive form, so the simple present tense is used for an activity taking place at the moment of speaking.
Some of those verbs are:
to love, to decide, to recognize, to notice, to wish, to want, to see, to find, to mind, to mean, to know, to remember…..

The simple present tense is used in exclamatory sentences for an activity in progress.
Especially in sentences beginning with here or there.
